About

Ramsgate Pottery is a welcoming studio space where adults and children can learn and practise hand building and wheel pottery skills.

As well as hosting regular classes and workshops, the studio space and kiln are also available to hire for more experienced potters.

The studio was founded by Gillian Farrell, a ceramics artist who was born in Belfast and studied Fine Art (specialising in Painting) at Winchester School of Art. She specialises in making one-off thrown and hand-built ceramics, layering colour and using gestural marks.

Gillian was formerly Head of Art at The Grey Coat Hospital School in Westminster and currently teaches Ceramics and Art at The King’s School in Canterbury. She has also run workshops with local community groups and taught at Clayspace in Margate, as well as offering private tuition at her own studio.

The studio is on South Eastern Road in Ramsgate, a stone’s throw from Ellington Park and about 10 minutes from Ramsgate Train station.

Ed 6 week beginners class

‘Gillian is a patient and enthusiastic teacher. In six weeks we progressed to making all sorts of pieces on the wheel and by hand. Her set up in a garden studio is an oasis of calm at the end of a busy day. Loved the course, looking to book onto another one in a few months’
